WINNIPEG – The Winnipeg Goldeyes have re-signed starting pitcher Edwin Carl.
Carl, 27, joined the Goldeyes midway through the 2015 season and went 6-1 with a 2.10 ERA. He also had 62 strikeouts in just 55 innings of work.
“I’m very excited to announce that Edwin is returning,” Goldeyes’ manager Rick Forney said through a media release. “He was fantastic last year
when he joined us, and I’m hopeful that he can pick up where he left off.”

Carl recorded eight or more strikeouts in five of his seven starts with the Goldeyes. He began the 2015 season with the Frontier League’s Schaumburg Boomers where in 11 starts he struck out 65 batters over 63 innings.
He also pitched this winter for the Australian Baseball League’s Perth Heat. Carl went 4-2 for Perth with a 2.95 ERA in 14 starts.
“Edwin works extremely hard, and competes as well as any starter that we have ever had in Winnipeg.” said Forney. “I’m looking forward to watching him pitch every fifth day.”
The Goldeyes have 21 players under contract and are allowed to carry as many as 28 players during training camp. The Goldeyes will announce the addition of two Canadian players later in the week. Camp begins on May 7.
