Boundaries: Steinbach is located in southeastern Manitoba. It is bordered by Emerson to the south, La Verendrye to the south and east, Dawson Trail to the north and Morris to the west. The largest community in the riding is the city of Steinbach. Other communities include Blumenort, Mitchell and New Bothwell.

Last Election: PC MLA Goertzen won his third term, defeating NDP candidate Dally Gutierrez by nearly 5,000 votes, 85 to 7 per cent.
History: Steinbach’s rural nature, as well as the city’s religious background, makes the riding a strong social conservative stronghold. The riding was created by redistribution in 1989, it has formally existed since the provincial election of 1990 and has been PC ever since. In 2003, the Tories’ Goertzen won with almost 75 per cent of vote.
