Police say drivers are simply not getting the message as an “alarming” number of impaired-driving charges were laid in York Region during the past 30 days.
York Regional Police arrested 139 people and charged them with 185 offences between April 15 and May 15.

Of those arrested, 16 were linked to vehicle collisions, 130 were for alcohol impairment and nine for drugs.
Police say they also issued 81 three-day driver’s license suspensions and the public managed to call 911 on 16 impaired drivers.
Authorities are urging drivers to avoid motor vehicle operation when impaired especially as the Victoria Day long weekend nears.
Police are also encouraging the public to continue to call 911 when they suspect someone is driving impaired.
