WINNIPEG – After signing three players on the opening day of free agency, the Winnipeg Jets signed two more players on Saturday.
The Jets re-signed defenceman Julian Melchiori and signed draft pick Jamie Phillips.

Melchiori, 24, agreed to a two-year, two-way contract worth an average of $625,000 per season. He’s been in the Jets organization for the past five seasons after getting drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers. He appeared in 11 games with the Jets and 62 games with the Manitoba Moose last season. He recorded three goals and four assists with the Moose.

Phillips, 23, signed a two-year entry-level contract for $675,000 per year. The Jets selected Phillips in the seventh round of the 2012 NHL Draft. He played the last four seasons at Michigan Tech University, and in the 2014-15 season he was nominated for the Mike Richter Award which goes to the most outstanding goalie in NCAA men’s hockey.
