Three cases of Dutch Elm disease have been confirmed in Regina’s east end.
The city is reminding residents that possession of elm firewood is prohibited by provincial regulation. The city said residents should not transport elm firewood into the city from areas outside the city, nor should they store any elm firewood on their property.

Due to provincial regulation, and to try and minimize the spread of Dutch elm disease, pruning of elm trees is prohibited from April 1 to August 31.Residents can prune elm trees starting on Sept. 1.
Regina has lost 94 trees due to Dutch elm disease since 1981, when Dutch Elm disease first occurred in the city.
