The price of buying a new home in Saskatoon has fallen for the second straight month.

Statistics Canada reported on Thursday that the new housing price index declined 0.2 per cent in July, which the agency said reflects current market conditions.

Saskatoon also had the largest year-over-year decline, down 3.2 per cent compared to July 2015.

The survey measures changes over time of the selling price of new homes and includes single-family units, semi-detached houses and townhouses.

Nationally, the new housing price index rose 0.4 per cent in July when compared with June, driven mainly by prices in Toronto and Oshawa, where prices were up 1.0 per cent.
