Former Calgary MLA says she wants to be new Alberta Tory boss

A former member of the legislature from Calgary says she’s going to vie for the leadership of the Alberta Progressive Conservative party.

Donna Kennedy-Glans says she’s excited about entering the race that is to culminate with a vote by delegates on March 18.

Kennedy-Glans says some of the decisions made by the NDP government are putting Alberta in a hard place to navigate and a course correction is needed quickly.

Conservative MP Jason Kenney is the only other person so far in the leadership race, which officially begins on Oct. 1.

Kennedy-Glans was an associate minister in Alison Redford’s cabinet, but resigned and left the Tory caucus in March 2014.

She said at the time that the party’s inability to create change and a culture of entitlement led to her departure.
