A person was assaulted after helping detain a man believed to be responsible for breaking into a vehicle in a Saskatoon parking lot.
The break-in happened on Saturday at around 4 p.m. CT in the parking lot of an organization in the area of 17th Street West and Spadina Crescent West.

Witnesses said they saw a man break a vehicle’s window and take a backpack.
They were able to detain the man until police arrived.
While the witnesses were holding him, police said he assaulted a witness and threatened to harm people.
The investigation later found that the man may have been responsible for two break and enters in the 100-block of 20th Street West and attempting to cash fake cheques.

The 28-year-old man from Medicine Hat, Alta., is charged with assault, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, break and enter, theft, mischief and uttering a forged document.
He will make his next court appearance in Saskatoon province court on Sept. 28.
