Mounties want tips after dog left at Alberta dump with muzzle duct taped shut

HIGH PRAIRIE, Alta. – Mounties in northwestern Alberta are investigating a case of animal cruelty.

Cpl. Anita Doktor says someone at Peavine waste dump near High Prairie on Sunday found a collie cross dog in severe pain with its muzzle taped shut.

The dog also had multiple broken bones and other wounds. It was taken to the High Prairie Vet Clinic for treatment, but Doktor says the dog had to be euthanized.

Police called the incident are urging people who have any information to call them at 780-523-3370.

She says animal cruelty is an offence under the Criminal Code.
