WINNIPEG — The University of Manitoba Faculty Association (UMFA) has voted overwhelmingly in favour of strike action.
Staff voted 85 per cent in favour of going on strike if their concerns are not met in a new contract.

They’re fighting for job security, work load protections, closing the salary gap and fair management.
UMFA represents more than 1,200 professors, instructors and librarians at the University of Manitoba. The association says they have been without a contract since its last three-year deal expired March 31. Negotiations have been ongoing since the end of May.
If staff to head to the picket line, students at the university’s Bannatyne and Fort Garry campuses would be affected.
