A sombre ceremony was held Sunday afternoon in Halifax to honour officers who have died in the line of duty.
Uniformed police, peace officers and civilian employees marched from the Halifax Regional Police headquarters on Gottingen Street to the annual Peace Officers’ Memorial Service.
The event takes place at the Fallen Officers’ Memorial, which displays the names, ranks and departments of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
Hundreds of officers from across Nova Scotia took part in the event, which was open to the public.
Police officers say the threat of not going home after work is real.

“They’re on the line and sometimes like this, they fall off the line so we need to come down here and remember.”
