Nova Scotia Justice Minister Diana Whalen is taking leave from her post in cabinet after being hospitalized Monday with a heart attack, the government confirmed Tuesday.
In a brief statement sent out Tuesday, the premier’s office said Whalen is “expected to make a full recovery.”

“We wish Diana well and hope she makes a speedy recovery,” Premier Stephen McNeil said in the release. “She is a valuable member of the team and we are looking forward to having her back as soon as possible ”

Energy Minister Michel Samson will step in to assume the roles of justice minister, attorney general and deputy premier while Whalen is on leave.
