FSIN delivers wild meat to Saskatchewan food banks

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) is donating traditional wild meat to food banks to help the less fortunate in Saskatchewan.

FSIN Chief Bobby Cameron, who said he is an avid hunter, made the first delivery to the Prince Albert Food Bank on Monday.

Deliveries will also be made to North Battleford, Yorkton and Regina later this week.

“About 90 per cent of our clients are indigenous and the vast majority who access our food are families and children,” Wes Clark, executive director of the Prince Albert Food Bank, said.

“The need is great, and our clients really appreciate receiving this traditional food.”

FSIN officials said their initiative, which ensures the treaty right to hunt benefits those in a time of need, started back in 2014.
