A teenage boy was critically injured at Nakiska Ski Hill Monday in an incident the resort’s senior vice president called “extremely unfortunate.”
“Our hearts and our care go to the individual and his family,” Resorts of the Canadian Rockies senior VP Matt Mosteller told Global News Tuesday. “We’re just totally putting all that good energy for a quick recovery.”

EMS said emergency crews from Kananaskis were called to the scene of an incident at the ski hill at around 4 p.m.
Mosteller had limited details, but said his team mobilized after a report from a parent that their son was missing.
“He was a snowboarder and he was wearing a helmet,” he added. “We highly, highly recommend that everybody wears helmets…there’s no reason not to.”

The boy was flown by STARS Air Ambulance to the Foothills Hospital in serious, potentially life-threatening condition with suspected head injuries.
An EMS spokesperson told Global News it’s “still not precisely known what may have occurred as the incident precipitating his injury was not witnessed.”
Mosteller didn’t have an update on the boy’s condition Tuesday afternoon.
