Police have laid child pornography charges against an 18-year-old Strathmore man.
The charges were laid following a joint investigation by the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) and Strathmore RCMP, which was launched in August 2016.
Police arrested 18-year-old Marvin Agboro on Tuesday. He is charged with accessing, possessing and making child pornography.
“The investigation started back in August. A tip was received and sent to the coordination centre in Ottawa, then they were able to determine where the pornographic images had originated from,” Cpl. Curtis Peters said.

Mounties allege the images came from the accused and were shared on social media. A search warrant was executed as part of the investigation and further pornographic images were found, according to RCMP.
“Snapchat, Instagram, Facebook, you name it. We have a lot of partners in the social media application industry. They have their own units to peruse their sites and they will find child pornography being uploaded….and they report to the appropriate jurisdiction,” Sgt. Stephen Camp, with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit said.
