The Nova Scotia Public Prosecution Service has asked its Manitoba counterpart to provide legal advice to the Serious Incident Response Team as it investigates a death in Halifax Regional Police cells.
Corey Rogers, 41, was found unresponsive in a cell on June 16th, 2016, and could not be revived.

Martin Herschorn — who is the director of Nova Scotia’s public prosecutions — says the Manitoba Crown’s involvement is meant to avoid any possible conflict of interest or appearance of conflict.
Prosecution services across Canada often help each other in conflict cases, and Nova Scotia Crown attorneys are currently also dealing with matters in Newfoundland and New Brunswick.
