Senior dead after collision with truck in Lachine

A pedestrian is dead after a fatal collision in Montreal’s Lachine borough.

Officers received a 911 call around 10:50 a.m. Monday.

“It seems the pedestrian was crossing Notre-Dame [Street] at the intersection of Saint-Pierre [Avenue] on a green light,” said Manuel Couture, spokesperson for Montreal police.

Couture explained the truck driver was waiting at a red light, heading north on Saint-Pierre Avenue.

He accelerated while the pedestrian, a senior, was in front of him.

“The victim’s death was confirmed on the scene,” Couture said.

Investigators are currently on the scene to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident.
