City releases details about celebration of life for Ralph Klein

CALGARY- Full details about a celebration of life for former Alberta premier Ralph Klein have been released.

The memorial will be held on Friday at the Jack Singer Concert Hall in downtown Calgary. Starting at 9 a.m., general seating cards will be handed out to those in line outside the main entrance. Overflow seating is also available. The doors will open at 10:30 a.m., with the celebration scheduled to start at 12 p.m.

A funeral procession will also take place, making two stops along the route. The first will be at the McDougall Centre at 11:15 a.m. where there will be a short presentation from the Alberta government. Another presentation will be made in Municipal Plaza by the City of Calgary, at 11:25 a.m.

To accommodate the procession, road closures will be in effect in 5 Avenue S.W. throughout the morning. Police expect traffic blockades to be quick and of little disruption to motorists.

Macleod Trail between 6 and 9 Avenues will also be closed from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The celebration of life will be broadcast on television, and streamed live on our website.
