Decision BC: Popular vote breakdown
Jane Shin has won the vacant riding of Burnaby-Lougheed for the NDP.
Shin defeated Liberal candidate Ken Kramer, winning 43.2 per cent of the vote as of 11:15 p.m. on election night. Kramer won 40.5 per cent. Fewer than 500 votes separated the two.

The riding has been Liberal for 12 years, but Liberal incumbent Harry Bloy decided not to run again.
Shin had some controversy during the campaign after it surfaced that she once used the word “chinkasauruses” to refer to Chinese-Canadians in an online gaming forum when she was 21 years old.

The 32 year-old Shin was born in South Korea and has a medical doctorate from the Spartan Health Sciences University in St. Lucia. She also once served as the Head of Education at BCIT.
Due to a filing error, Conservative candidate Christine Clarke was not listed as a BC Conservative on the ballot. She won 8.2 per cent of the vote, as of 11:15 p.m. on election night.
