Valemount Search and Rescue pulled the body of a 21-year-old female who had fallen into the Swift Current Creek on May 14.
RCMP were alerted to the area, which is located approximately 12.5 km east of the Junction of Highway 16 and Highway 5, shortly after 9 p.m. Local swift water rescue kayaks were on scene and began to search the river.

A witness who had been walking the river bank located the female’s body on a rocky sand bar in the middle of the Swift Current Creek. Due to the dangerous location on the river, Search and Rescue swift water teams from McBride and Jasper attended and recovered the female from the river.
Foul play is not a factor in this tragic event.
