OTTAWA – A New Brunswick charity is expressing annoyance with the federal Conservatives over politicizing its attempt to get back money from Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau.
Saint John-based Grace Foundation says it never intended for the matter to be debated on the floor of the House of Commons.
The charity asked Trudeau to return a $20,000 speaking fee because it ended up losing money from the event.

Saint John Tory MP Rob Moore and the Prime Minister’s Office circulated a copy of the charity’s letter to the media.
Grace Foundation says it’s most concerned about comments from Moore who indicated he was asked by board members to put pressure on Trudeau.

It says after Trudeau didn’t respond to a private letter in March it decided to drop the matter and never asked Moore to intervene.
Moore is standing by his version of events.
Trudeau announced on Sunday that he will give back the money to any of those 17 groups who feel they didn’t get their money’s worth.
