Celebrity chef Jamie Oliver partners with Canadian retailer

TORONTO — Canadian grocery chain Sobeys announced Thursday it is partnering with celebrity chef Jamie Oliver to promote healthier eating habits.

“I’ve always received an extremely warm welcome from Canadians, and I’m thrilled to be joining the Sobeys’ team,” Oliver said in a release.

The Food Network Canada host and cookbook author is an outspoken advocate for nutrition. The Jamie Oliver Food Foundation provides nutrition education in schools in the U.S., U.K. and Australia.

Specific details about the partnership will be announced in the coming weeks, according to spokesperson.

The company has more than 1,500 stores across Canada under Sobeys, IGA, Foodland, FreshCo and Thrifty Foods banners.
