CALGARY- A charming southern Alberta community is still at risk, despite more than two months passing since the June flood.
The Hamlet of Arrowwood remains cut off from many of the people who used to visit to shop, eat and get gas, ever since the bridge connecting it with Gleichen was washed out.

“Our business sector was fragile already, we were having trouble with places like the big stores like Costco and such,” explains mayor Matt Crane. “It was tough then, now cut the business in half? We’ll have to wait eight months—can they survive? It may be a domino effect. If one goes they all go.”
Arrowwood also relies on Gleichen RCMP for service, which means response times have greatly diminished.
Transportation officials say repair work on the bridge is so extensive and detailed, that it may not be completed until March.
The cost to fix it is estimated at $5.5 million.
