New Zealand police find woman’s body while searching for missing Canadians

HAAST, New Zealand – New Zealand police believe a woman’s body they recovered from a beach is that of a missing Ottawa woman.

Police believe the body is that of 24-year-old Joanna Lam, but they say that will not be confirmed until formal identification has been completed.

There has been no sign of of her companion, 25-year-old Connor Hayes.

The couple were last seen at Fox Glacier on September 10th in stormy conditions, and parts of their rented van were found this week.

Police believe the couple either drove over a cliff inadvertently or were swept off by a landslide.
