LANIGAN, Sask. – A number of teens have been charged following a high school initiation in Lanigan, Sask.
RCMP are investigating after a freshman tradition at a local high school resulted in injuries.

Local residents say the tradition of paddling grade nine students has been taking place for a number of years with one person comparing it to bullying.
Police confirm that a number of students have been charged with assault, but aren’t saying how many.

Mounties say more charges may be pending as the investigation continues.
Lanigan is approximately 115 kilometres east of Saskatoon.
