Temporary housing for flood victims set to open in Calgary

CALGARY – Several hundred displaced flood victims will soon begin moving into a temporary housing camp in southeast Calgary.

Crews have been putting the finishing touches on a work camp-like site built in the Great Plains Industrial Park at 68 Avenue S.E. and 57 Street S.E. for the past few days.

The site is designed for families who were forced out of their homes after flooding in June which devastated several communities in southern Alberta.

This area will house 700 people in modular living units, and the first residents start arriving on Tuesday.
