TORONTO – The sun has been a little gassy.
On Sept. 29, our nearest star unleashed a coronal mass ejection (CME) into space.

CMEs are a release of gases, plasma, and particles. They can eject a billion tons of matter, and travel at several million kilometres per hour.
It is believed that this particular CME was hurtled into space around 900 km/s.
Although it was not aimed directly at Earth, it could glance us on Oct. 2 or 3, perhaps triggering auroras.
