Celebration of life for two 19-year-old UBC students killed in Sea to Sky crash

A celebration of life took place at the Chan Centre at the University of British Columbia to remember two young students who lost their lives in a crash on the Sea-to-Sky Highway on Saturday morning.

Olivia Sonja Robertson and Valentine Leborgne, both 19 years old, were arts students at UBC. More than 100 of their family and friends gathered to share some of their fondest memories of the two girls.

Leborgne is originally from Los Altos, California, a town about 60 kilometres south of San Francisco. Robertson is originally from Collingwood, Ontario, a town about 150 kilometres north of Toronto. Both women were living in Vancouver while attending UBC.

Robertson was the driver of the northbound Jeep Cherokee, and Leborgne was a passenger. Their Jeep collided with a full-sized pickup truck on the Sea to Sky Highway at Loggers Bay at about 7:25 a.m. Both women died at the scene.

The BC Coroners Service and RCMP continue to investigate these deaths.
