The family of a black Ontario man killed by police after a routine traffic stop has launched a lawsuit against members of a Toronto-area force, alleging officers engaged in racial profiling and were motivated by racial prejudice.

A leaked toxicology report shows that Jermaine Carby, who was fatally shot by Peel Regional Police last year, had ecstasy and meth in his blood at the time of his death.

Protesters shut down the southbound Allen Expressway on Monday to voice their outrage at the recent shooting deaths of two black men, Andrew Loku and Jermaine Carby, at the hands of police.
