Two Manitoba landmarks will be receiving a combined $600,000 as the province looks to get tourism dollars flowing again.

Canada has had some sort of northern affairs ministry for decades, but it's always been wrapped in with other areas such as resource development or Indigenous concerns.

Over six years after being forced out of their homes due to flooding, some 30 families received keys to their new homes in the community of Lake St. Martin. The community was evacuated due to flooding in May 2011.
