The 25th annual Gimli International Film Festival takes place from July 22 – 26. As Canada’s largest rural film festival, it runs for 5 days on the shores of Lake Winnipeg, featuring indoor theatre screenings, industry masterclasses, and its signature RBC Sunset Beach Screenings.
Festival Highlights & Programming details:
- Beach Screenings: Free, nightly outdoor films screened on a massive 11-meter-tall screen erected directly in the waters of Lake Winnipeg. The 2026 program includes cult classics and anniversary screenings like Shrek, Jaws, and Night of the Living Dead.
- Global Industry Summit: A series of professional development panels, including Indigenous storytelling sessions, production financing masterclasses, and cinematography talks.
- Emerging Filmmaker Pitch Competition: The 15th annual RBC $15,000 Pitch Competition showcases five local finalists pitching their projects to a jury live at the Gimli Theatre.
- Special Events & Parties: Features include the OurToba Cold Read, the Volunteer Breakfast, and the official Real Love Winnipeg Afterparty with live bands and DJs.
