A man is in custody after a series of thefts ending in a spectacular police chase Wednesday morning in Kelowna.
Police say the drama unfolded around 9:15 am near the intersection of Highway 33 and Hollywood Road.
RCMP received reports of an erratic driver and attempted to pull him over.
But police had to stop their pursuit after it become too dangerous.
Helicopter assistance was instead brought in.
It began when a vehicle struck another vehicle and the driver fled the scene.
The suspect then allegedly stole a nearby delivery truck and drove up Highway 33 into oncoming traffic and side-swiped an unmarked police car.
The vehicle then drove off the road, crashing through a hedge and fence and into a backyard pool.
The 25-year-old suspect, who is known to police and was believed to be under the influence of narcotics, fled the scene on foot.
He broke into a property on Franklyn Road where two people were at home to elude capture, but was quickly arrested.
The whole incident ultimately ended around 9:45 am.
Police are considering a number of charges including dangerous driving, two counts of hit-and-run with one involving a police car and two counts of stolen property.
Police say it is amazing no one was injured.
