EDMONTON – A head-on crash in central Alberta sent three people to hospital Tuesday afternoon.
It happened at about 1 p.m. on Highway 20 between Rimbey and Bentley.
RCMP say a northbound pick-up crossed the centre line after losing control on the icy road.
An initial investigation suggests a southbound car was likely trying to avoid the pick-up, when it collided with a northbound mini-van.
The crash left the driver of the southbound vehicle, a 40-year-old woman from Rimbey, with serious injuries. She was rushed to hospital in Red Deer.
The two occupants of the mini-van – a 65-year-old man and 62-year-old woman – suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
