TORONTO – For the first time in 30 years, a rover is making its way across the lunar surface.
Chang’e 3 lifted off from China on Dec. 2. It is China’s first moon rover.

The “Jade Rabbit” rover separated from the landing vehicle on Sunday, about seven hours after Chang’e 3 successfully landed on the moon.
The rover’s mission is to survey the moon’s geological structure and surface, and look for natural resources.
Eventually, China plans to send astronauts to the moon.
