NORTH BATTLEFORD, Sask. – A steep turn at a low altitude has been deemed a major factor in a fatal plane crash just outside of North Battleford, Sask. in June.
Whitehorse father and son, Shane and Charles Buchanan, died when their float plane crashed moments after taking off from a lake at Cameron McIntosh Airport.

The Transportation Safety Board says the plane was about 150 feet in the air when it made a sharp turn which caused the aircraft to stall.
Peter Hildebrand with the TSB says at that low of an altitude it would be hard to recover.
The plane was about 23 kilograms heavier than what is recommended which may have also played a factor.
TSB says no mechanical problems were found.
