Homicide detectives investigate suspicious death in downtown parkade

EDMONTON – Homicide detectives are investigating after a body was found in a downtown Edmonton parkade Saturday morning.

Police say they received a call from Edmonton City Centre mall security shortly after 8:00 a.m., after a body was discovered in a parkade stairwell in the area of 103 Street and 103 Avenue.

Police have confirmed it was a man’s body that was found, but his name and age have not yet been released.

At this time police are considering the death suspicious.

“We’ve called in our homicide section. They’re going to be leading the investigation on this and determine what led up to this occurrence,” said Inspector Chad Tawfik with the Edmonton Police Service.

“We’re in consultation with not only the mall, but with surrounding businesses with respect to any available video, witness evidence,” Tawfik added.
