Dangerous wind chill warnings in Saskatchewan

SASKATOON – Most of central and southern Saskatchewan remains under a dangerous wind chill Sunday, according to Environment Canada.

A frigid Arctic airmass is moving across the southern Prairies with temperatures in the minus thirties this morning.

Northwest winds of 20 to 30 km/h with higher gusts are combining with extremely low temperatures to produce dangerous wind chills in the minus 45 to minus 50 range.

Some northern areas and all of central and southern Saskatchewan are currently under a wind chill warning.

Wind chill values will remain in the minus 40 to minus 45 range much of the day in southern Saskatchewan while brisk northwest winds persist.

It is expected that wind chills will be colder than minus 40 warning through the night and into Monday morning before moderating Monday afternoon.
