RICHMOND HILL, Ont. – The Transportation Safety Board of Canada says it’s unsure what caused a fatal plane crash near Calabogie, west of Ottawa, in 2012.
The single-engine Socata TBM 700 plane went into a spiral dive and crashed on Oct. 8, 2012 shortly after taking off from an Ottawa-area airport.

TSB investigators say the pilot, who died in the crash, lost control of the aircraft for undetermined reasons.
Investigators say it’s possible the aircraft may have depressurized causing the pilot to become incapacitated due to lack of oxygen.
The TSB says systems on the plane had the capability to record flight data essential to the investigation, but the recording was destroyed in the crash.
