Edmonton – It took less than 48 hours after being traded to the Edmonton Oilers for Ben Scrivens to get frustrated about comments being made online.
The Oilers newest goalie took to Twitter after his first game as an Oiler Thursday night – a 4-1 loss to the Minnesota Wild – to blast a blogger who wrote an article titled “Big loser in Oilers – Kings trade? Mrs. Scrivens.”
The article – written by Anthony Vasquez-Peddie – claims Ben Scrivens’ wife is unhappy about her husband being dealt from the Los Angeles Kings to the Edmonton Oilers.
Vasquez-Peddie’s Twitter account says he is a national online sports editor with Sun Media, based in Toronto.
Vasquez-Peddie bases his opinion from tweets sent by Jenny Scrivens, who is a native of California, including a recent tweet which reads “Thank you to the @LAKings and #Kings fans for welcoming us to LA. Sad to leave my hometown, but excited for @scrivens_30’s hometown!”
Ben Scrivens is a native of Spruce Grove, a neighbouring community of Edmonton.

Vasquez-Peddie responded to the Oilers goalie Thursday night on Twitter.
Following the exchange, many Twitter users came to Scrivens’ defence.
