According to a new report, snow was not the primary cause of a roof collapse at a seniors centre earlier this year.
When the roof caved in at the Northgate Lions Seniors Recreation Centre, the cause was believed to be the weight of accumulated snow on the roof.
Officials have now confirmed to the Edmonton Journal that snow was a factor but not the primary cause of the collapse.
A forensic engineering report on the incident points to another cause – but it won’t be revealed.
No one was injured during the roof collapse.
Part of the facility could re-open as early as June.
