Long-term sex offender found dead in his jail cell

A long-term sex offender has been found dead in his jail cell in Agassiz.

34-year-old Jack Froese was being held on an indeterminate sentence at Mountain Institution. In November 2011 he abducted a woman from a Kamloops business, injected her with drugs, sexually assaulted her and then dumped her on the street.

Forese had a long list of convictions in three different Canadian provinces and had repeatedly refused treatment for his problems.

Officials say he was found unresponsive in his cell earlier this week and could not be revived.

The cause of death has not been been confirmed at this time.
