TORONTO – The City of Toronto has issued another Extreme Cold Weather as temperatures drop across the city.
An alert is called when there’s increased danger to homeless people in Toronto due to extreme winter weather conditions. Environment Canada says temperatures will fall to -22 degrees Celsius Sunday night, but it will feel like -30 with the wind chill.

During an extreme cold alert shelters are directed to relax service restrictions and allow people to remain at the shelter if a bed is not available until one can be found elsewhere.
Overnight street outreach programs will also be increased the downtown core, focusing on warning people of the danger of the cold and urging them to go to a shelter or some warm, indoor place.
Officials say the alert is in effect until further notice.
