THESSALONIKI, Greece – Police say a packed car has careened off a highway and crashed in northern Greece, killing nine passengers and injuring another four.
Police say the car had been modified to squeeze more people in and suspect those killed and injured were illegal migrants .

A passer-by saw the wreckage near the northern town of Komotini in the early hours of Monday morning and called authorities.
Police said Monday it was not clear what the nationalities of the injured were.
Greece is the main gateway into the European Union for illegal immigrants.
