The man charged in the death of a Surrey hockey mom appeared in court for the second time today.
Julie Paskall’s accused killer, 27-year-old Yosef Jomo Gopaul, did prison time in Ontario for aggravated assault.
The National Parole Board’s decision on Gopaul details a history of violence, including a problem with substance abuse.

He is charged with second-degree murder in the slaying of Paskall.
The 53-year-old hockey mom was brutally beaten outside the Newton Rec Centre on December 29, 2013.
She died two days later.
Police say Gopaul moved to B.C. eight weeks before Paskall’s death.
Gopaul was convicted of aggravated sexual assault in Ontario four years ago.
He will appear in court again on July 15.
