EDMONTON - A 43-year-old high school teacher with the Parkland School Division has been charged with sexual assault and sexual exploitation relating to a female student.
Spruce Grove/Stony Plain RCMP received a complaint in February and launched an investigation into allegations of sexual assault by a teacher.
James Richard Pratt, 43, of Spruce Grove was arrested on June 12, released, but with a condition to have no contact with the victim, who was a teenage student of Pratt's.

She is receiving ongoing support from Victim Services.
Police have charged Pratt with sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
The charges stem from one day in January.
According to Stony Plain's Memorial Composite High School website, Pratt was a Construction instructor in Career and Technology Studies.
The RCMP says he was removed from his teaching position in February.
Officers believe this was an isolated incident, and are not anticipating other alleged victims to come forward.
Pratt is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Stony Plain Provincial Court on Wednesday, July 16.
