Calgary mother charged with killing daughter south of Saskatoon

SASKATOON – A Calgary mother has been charged with killing her daughter Monday evening south of Saskatoon.

Frances Rose Sugar, 51, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Lindey Sugar. She is also charged with failing to comply with an undertaking.

Mounties were called out to Casa Rio Estates after being informed by Saskatoon police a woman had suffered a neck injury.

Lindey Sugar, 34, was declared dead at Royal University Hospital. She has ties to both Alberta and Saskatchewan.

Police say her death occurred as the result of an altercation that took place outside the vehicle. No other details have been released and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.

Frances Sugar is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon provincial court Wednesday morning.
