LAKE COUNTRY — It’s a stretch of highway that’s seen more than its fair share of tragedy, but an announcement Wednesday afternoon is looking to change that.

The province announced plans for concrete median barriers to be built dividing a section of Highway 97 between Lake Country and Vernon.
The $5-million dollar project will span 11 kilometers, stretching from the Pelmewash Parkway exit in Lake Country to the Kal Lake intersection in Vernon.
Work is scheduled to begin this fall.
