PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – A man accused of beating and burning a homeless Prince Albert, Sask. woman has made his first court appearance.
Relatives of the woman were in attendance as Leslie Black, 29, spoke quietly in court Wednesday. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder.

Black was remanded in custody until July 16.
The woman was beaten and burned so badly in the June 1 attack outside a downtown community centre that she had to have both legs amputated.
She is currently in an Edmonton hospital as she continues to recover.
