Lawyers fed up with the level of funding for legal aid services in this province are staging a rally this afternoon.

Members of the Trial Lawyers Association withdrew their services over the weekend, and say they will not take any new legal aid cases for a full month.

They say two-thirds of the people who need help with legal funding can’t get it, because the system is chronically underfunded.

They believe money collected through a tax on legal services should be devoted exclusively to covering legal aid.

The protesters will gather this afternoon outside the provincial courthouse on Main Street.
