REGINA – Good news for lake lovers in Saskatchewan – the province has lifted the health advisory about high levels of bacteria in the waterways.
Tests on water samples taken from Last Mountain, Echo, Pasqua, Katepwa, Crooked and Round Lakes show that the levels of E. coli at all the public beaches tested have dropped to a level considered safe for swimming and in-water activities.

“Public health officials from the health regions took water samples at several public beaches and the results are well within acceptable levels,” Director of Environmental Health for the Ministry of Health Tim Macaulay said.

Other reasons why the advisory was lifted include receding flood waters, and the recent warm weather which helped break down the bacteria.
